Our Approach

Beyond Pilates is a whole body approach to exercise. It's designed so you use your own body weight or light resistance with therabands. Pilates has gained support among physiotherapists for the benefits it has for increasing strength and stability that it can provide, while avoiding any heavy loading on the body.

Beyond Pilates is taught by a physiotherapist or exercise professional and will aim to transfer newly developed strength and control into functional movements.

Beyond Pilates offers small class sizes (max of 8) that lets us pay more individual attention to clients and their needs. We can cater for injuries which can help with rehab and prevention.

Cormac Callaghan

Physiotherapist, Pilates Instructor & Partner

Cormac's passion for health and wellbeing came from a love of sport and understanding how the body operates at it's pinnacle.

Cormac has a BSc Degree in Physiotherapy and Sports and Exercise Rehab Science. Cormac really enjoys working with clients rehabbing injuries and looking at injury prevention and prehab.

Cormac believes pilates classes can be a great way to help clients make dedicated time for the all important stretching and strengthening core muscles that a lot of people would not normally do.

Naomi Cranston

Pilates Instructor and Trainer

Naomi is a registered Pilates Instructor certified by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and qualified Personal Trainer.  A lover of all things outdoors, Naomi’s passion for Health and Fitness led her to study at both the University of Waikato and the University of Hawaii where she graduated with a Bachelor of Sport and Leisure and a Bachelor of Management Studies.

Naomi loves that Pilates can develop core strength and help with weight loss management, as it provides the movement without the cardio strain.

Kyle Trollip

Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor

Kyle's personal experience of sports injuries and rehab lead him to a career as a physiotherapist.

Starting out by completing a Degree in Physiotherapy at AUT, Kyle found a love working with all age groups by understanding the body's development stages. Kyle gets real satisfaction in building relationships and providing clients with the right advise and resources to assist them with achieving their goals.

Kyle enjoys educating people to the benefits of Pilates and how it can help with injury rehab and prevention.

FAQ

 

What do I bring to the sessions?
We provide all the equipment you need for a safe and effective workout. Just bring a drink bottle, a small towel for perspiration and some comfortable sports clothing. Please do not forget your medication as required.

 

What if I miss a session?
It is not ideal missing a session as our classes have limited spaces and will result in someone else missing out. We do realise life gets in the way on the odd occasion, therefore we take every case as it comes.

 

Are there any changing facilities, showers or toilets?

Yes, we have a shower, toilets and changing facilities at the Beyond Fitness Studio.

 

Can I try before I buy?
Yes you sure can.. However, certain session times do sell out so please don't be disappointed if we cannot offer a free place. To avoid this we recommend signing up asap.

 

I am really unfit, can I handle this?
Yes you Can! Our sessions are designed so that you exercise at your pace and will never be out in a situation where you feel you are holding the group up. We have a variety of fitness levels.

 

What if I have never attended a Pilates session before: Is this for me?
Yes, our instructors are experts at tailoring the exercises to your current ability and showing you the same exercise at different difficulty levels. We can also advise alternatives if you have injuries. Please do not be shy in asking if an exercise can be modified, we are here to help you.
